Technology Evaluation

BI Tool Consolidation – this client has been an active Strafford client since 1999. Over the last five years our work has ranged across BI tool consulting, training/mentoring, as well as specific project opportunities. Our last engagement involved assistance with a corporate-wide standardization of reporting and analytics tools. Strafford provided benchmarking and technology consulting with the short list candidates. The benchmarking involved test plan development, as well as formal “head to head” use case testing and analysis. Strafford also provide technical assistance on the intricacies of the different environments as the client considered centralization of over 8 tools that supported the 1,500 people.

Budgeting/Forecasting – for this client, Strafford completed an evaluation of the financial systems that support planning and financial reporting. The project reviewed the existing Excel-based budgeting/forecasting system as well as the troubled ERP implementation. We worked to determine existing and future business requirements, and evaluated a number of options for improvement. In the course of this assessment, over 50 software vendors were reviewed; with a short list reduced to five. There were extensive changes specified to the client’s process as well as extensive evaluation of the five selected packages. In a final technology selection the client selected technology, but Strafford did not participate in the implementation.
